Ingredients

  • 500g fish (preferably kingfish or mackerel), cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until they turn golden brown.
  2. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  3. Grind the grated coconut, turmeric powder, and tamarind paste into a fine paste.
  4. Add the ground paste to the pan and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Add the fish pieces, salt, and water as needed. Simmer until the fish is cooked and the curry thickens.
  6. Meen Pulimunchi is ready to be served hot with steamed rice.
