Meen Roast (kodava Style Fish Roast)

Ingredients

  • 500g fish fillets
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • 3-4 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1 sprig curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Clean and cut the fish fillets into medium-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, mix turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger-garlic paste, vinegar, and salt to form a thick paste.
  3. Marinate the fish pieces with the prepared masala paste and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Heat coconut oil in a pan and add the sliced onions, green chilies, and curry leaves. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
  5. Add the marinated fish pieces to the pan and cook on medium heat for about 8-10 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through, until the fish is cooked and the masala is well coated.
  6. Once the fish is roasted to perfection, remove from heat and serve hot.
