Meen Roast (kodava Style Fish Roast)
Meen Roast is a traditional Kodava (Coorg) style fish roast that is bursting with flavors and spices. This dish is a perfect blend of tangy and spicy, making it a favorite among fish lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g fish fillets
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- Salt to taste
- 3-4 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1 sprig curry leaves
Instructions
- Clean and cut the fish fillets into medium-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, mix turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger-garlic paste, vinegar, and salt to form a thick paste.
- Marinate the fish pieces with the prepared masala paste and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan and add the sliced onions, green chilies, and curry leaves. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add the marinated fish pieces to the pan and cook on medium heat for about 8-10 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through, until the fish is cooked and the masala is well coated.
- Once the fish is roasted to perfection, remove from heat and serve hot.
