Meng Gu Ji, also known as Mongolian Chicken, is a popular dish in Pakistani Chinese cuisine. It features tender chicken stir-fried with a savory and slightly sweet sauce, creating a delightful combination of flavors.
Ingredients
- 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
- Add the chicken pieces to the sauce and marinate for 15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
- Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry for 5-6 minutes until cooked through.
- Pour in the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
