Ingredients

  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  2. Gradually add 1 cup of sugar while continuing to beat the egg whites.
  3. In a separate saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  4. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the beaten egg whites, whisking constantly.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  6. Grease a pudding mold with butter and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar inside the mold.
  7. Pour the pudding mixture into the mold and place it in a large pot. Fill the pot with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the mold.
  8. Cover the pot and let the pudding steam over low heat for 40 minutes.
  9. Once cooked, remove the mold from the pot and let the pudding cool to room temperature.
  10. Refrigerate the pudding for at least 2 hours before serving.
