Mici (traditional Aromanian Sausages)
Mici, also known as "mititei," are traditional Aromanian sausages that are popular in Romania and other Balkan countries. These skinless sausages are made with a blend of ground meats and spices, and they are typically grilled or pan-fried.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sparkling water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, coriander, cumin, black pepper, and salt.
- Add the sparkling water to the meat mixture and mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into a sausage shape.
- Preheat the grill or a pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill or pan-fry the sausages for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and have a nice crust on the outside.
- Remove from the grill or pan and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
