Mie Goreng (indonesian Fried Noodles)
Mie Goreng is a popular Indonesian Chinese dish made of fried noodles, mixed with a variety of ingredients and spices. This flavorful and aromatic dish is a staple in Indonesian cuisine and is enjoyed by many around the world.
Ingredients
- 8 oz (225g) egg noodles
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1 cup cabbage, shredded
- 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp chili paste (sambal oelek)
- 1/2 tsp ground white pepper
- 4 eggs
- 4 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Boil the egg noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and onion, and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the carrot and cabbage, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Push the vegetables to the side of the wok, then crack the eggs into the empty space. Scramble the eggs until cooked, then mix with the vegetables.
- Add the cooked noodles, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, chili paste, and white pepper. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
