Mille feuille nabe is a delightful fusion dish that combines the French mille feuille pastry with the Japanese nabe hot pot. This unique recipe brings together layers of flaky pastry with a savory hot pot, creating a comforting and indulgent meal.
Ingredients
- 1 package of puff pastry
- 1 lb thinly sliced beef
- 1 cup sliced shiitake mushrooms
- 1 cup napa cabbage, chopped
- 4 cups dashi broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 12 equal rectangles. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a nabe pot or large skillet, layer the sliced beef, mushrooms, and napa cabbage. Pour the dashi broth, soy sauce, and mirin over the ingredients.
- Cover and simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
- To assemble, place a puff pastry rectangle on a plate, then spoon the hot pot mixture over it. Repeat the layers, finishing with a puff pastry rectangle on top.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.
