Ingredients

  • 2 cups millet
  • 1/2 cup peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 cup sugar (optional)
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Wash the millet and peanuts, then spread them out to dry.
  2. Once dry, roast the millet and peanuts in a pan until they are golden brown and fragrant.
  3. Grind the roasted millet and peanuts, ginger, and cloves into a fine powder.
  4. Transfer the powder into a large pot and add water to form a smooth, thick paste.
  5. Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and becomes smooth.
  6. Add sugar if desired, and continue to cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  8. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove any solids.
  9. Chill the millet drink in the refrigerator before serving.
