Minced Meat With Peas (mughlai Keema Matar)
Mughlai Keema Matar, also known as Minced Meat with Peas, is a classic dish from the Mughlai cuisine that is rich, flavorful, and aromatic. This dish is made with minced meat cooked with a blend of aromatic spices and peas, creating a delicious and hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 500g minced meat
- 1 cup peas
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4-5 green cardamom pods
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter) or oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, and cardamom pods. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the minced meat and cook until it changes color.
- Add the pureed tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are well cooked and the oil separates.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pan. Cook for a few minutes until the yogurt is well incorporated.
- Add the peas and cook for 5-7 minutes until the peas are tender.
- Sprinkle garam masala and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
