Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, grated onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion and garlic until softened. Add the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, sugar, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  5. Serve the Moai Meatballs hot, with the sauce spooned over the top.
