Mok Pa (grilled Fish With Herbs)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole fish, cleaned and scaled
  • 3 lemongrass stalks, finely chopped
  • 4 kaffir lime leaves, thinly sliced
  • 1 bunch of cilantro, chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 shallots, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, cilantro, garlic, shallots, fish sauce, soy sauce, and vegetable oil to make the marinade.
  3. Score the fish on both sides and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Stuff the fish cavity with some of the marinade and spread the remaining marinade over the fish.
  5. Grill the fish for about 7-8 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
  6. Once done, remove from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
