Mongolian Beef and Bell Pepper Stir-Fry (Говьтай гурилтай хуушуур)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and beef broth. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in the same skillet. Add the garlic, onion, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  4. Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through and well coated with the sauce.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the stir-fry hot over steamed rice.
