Mongolian Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry (Buryat: Шөл)

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Heat the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil in the same skillet. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the Mongolian beef and broccoli stir-fry hot over steamed rice.
