Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.
