Mongolian Yak Meatballs (Buryat: Гоёмс)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground yak meat
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground yak meat, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, egg, milk, salt, black pepper, cumin, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through.
  5. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  6. Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
