Ingredients

  • 4 Montreal bagels
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, soy sauce, sesame oil, and Chinese five-spice powder. Form the mixture into 4 patties.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook the beef patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  3. Split the Montreal bagels in half and toast them until golden brown.
  4. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bagel. Top with a beef patty, a slice of cheddar cheese, shredded cabbage, and a drizzle of hoisin sauce. Place the top half of the bagel on top to complete the burger.
