Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup poppy seeds
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the melted butter and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Sprinkle the poppy seeds evenly over the dough.
- Roll up the dough tightly, tuck the ends under, and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
