Moroccan Date and Walnut Bread (Khobz d'Fekkas)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the walnuts and dates to the flour mixture and stir to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil and water.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  6. Transfer the dough to a greased loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
