Mountain Manti (Манты)
Манты (Mountain Manti) is a traditional Kyrgyz dish that consists of steamed dumplings filled with seasoned meat and onions. This dish is a popular choice for gatherings and special occasions in Kyrgyz cuisine.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onions, salt, black pepper, cumin, and water until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and water to make a smooth dough. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the edges of the dough together to create a sealed pouch.
- Place the manti in a steamer and steam for 40-45 minutes until the dough is cooked and the meat filling is tender.
