Mouthwatering Hyderabadi Chicken Kofta Curry

Ingredients

  • 500g ground chicken
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 green cardamom pods
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground chicken, onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, bread crumbs, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander leaves, mint leaves, and yogurt. Form small kofta balls from the mixture.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the koftas until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and bay leaf. Sauté for a minute.
  4. Add tomato puree, coconut milk, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Gently add the fried koftas to the gravy and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
