Mouthwatering Plov with Chicken (Плов с курицей)
Плов с курицей (Mouthwatering Plov with Chicken) is a traditional Kyrgyz dish that is known for its rich flavors and aromatic spices. This hearty and satisfying meal is perfect for gatherings and special occasions.
Ingredients
- 2 cups jasmine rice
- 1 lb chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 3 carrots, julienned
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 4 cups chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and coriander seeds, and cook until fragrant.
- Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the rice, carrots, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30-35 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff the plov with a fork and serve hot.
