Mozambican Piri Piri Sauce (Molho Piri Piri Moçambicano)
Molho Piri Piri Moçambicano, also known as Mozambican Piri Piri Sauce, is a spicy and flavorful condiment that is a staple in Mozambican cuisine. This versatile sauce can be used as a marinade, dipping sauce, or drizzled over grilled meats and vegetables.
Ingredients
- 10-12 Piri Piri peppers, stemmed and seeded
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled
- 1 small red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions
- In a blender or food processor, combine the Piri Piri peppers, garlic, red bell pepper, onion, paprika, oregano, and white vinegar. Blend until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes. Then, using an immersion blender or regular blender, blend the mixture while slowly drizzling in the olive oil until emulsified.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Transfer the Molho Piri Piri Moçambicano to a sterilized jar or bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
