Mozambican Piri Piri Sauce (Molho Piri Piri Moçambicano)

Ingredients

  • 10-12 Piri Piri peppers, stemmed and seeded
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 small red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine the Piri Piri peppers, garlic, red bell pepper, onion, paprika, oregano, and white vinegar. Blend until smooth.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes. Then, using an immersion blender or regular blender, blend the mixture while slowly drizzling in the olive oil until emulsified.
  4. Season with salt to taste.
  5. Transfer the Molho Piri Piri Moçambicano to a sterilized jar or bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
