Muj Gaad (मुज गाद)
मुज गाद (Muj Gaad) is a traditional Kashmiri fish curry that is rich in flavors and spices. This dish is a popular delicacy in Kashmiri cuisine and is often served with steamed rice or naan.
Ingredients
- 500g fish (preferably trout or carp)
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp fennel powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the fish with turmeric powder and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and fry the fish until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Now, add the tomato puree, red chili powder, fennel powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
- Add 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Then, add the fried fish and green chilies. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- मुज गाद (Muj Gaad) is ready to be served with steamed rice or naan.
