Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried lentils
  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lentils and place them in a pot with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the lentils are tender. Drain any excess water and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the cooked lentils, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and salt. Use a potato masher or fork to mash the mixture until it holds together.
  3. Shape the lentil mixture into patties and coat each patty with flour.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the lentil patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
