Ingredients
- 1 cup dried lentils
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils and place them in a pot with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the lentils are tender. Drain any excess water and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix the cooked lentils, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and salt. Use a potato masher or fork to mash the mixture until it holds together.
- Shape the lentil mixture into patties and coat each patty with flour.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the lentil patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve the spiced lentil patties hot with your favorite side dishes.
