Multani Chicken Karahi (ملتانی چکن کڑاہی)
Multani Chicken Karahi is a traditional Muhajir Cuisine dish that originates from the city of Multan in Pakistan. This flavorful and aromatic chicken karahi is cooked with a blend of spices and herbs, giving it a rich and distinct taste.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 onions, sliced
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 4-5 green chilies, sliced
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a karahi or deep cooking pan.
- Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger garlic paste and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until they change color.
- Then add chopped tomatoes, yogurt, and all the spices. Cook on medium heat until the tomatoes are softened and the oil separates.
- Add green chilies and garam masala, and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
