Ingredients

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee over medium heat.
  2. Add the wheat flour and roast it in the ghee until it turns golden brown and aromatic.
  3. In a separate pan, combine the sugar and water to make a syrup. Cook until it reaches a one-string consistency.
  4. Pour the sugar syrup into the roasted wheat flour and ghee mixture. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. Add the mixed nuts and cardamom powder, and continue to cook the mixture until it thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
  6. Pour the hot mixture into a greased plate and spread it evenly. Let it cool and set for a few hours.
  7. Cut the set halwa into squares or diamonds and serve.
