Mung Bean Fritters (rajasthani Moong Dal Pakoda)
Mung Bean Fritters, also known as Rajasthani Moong Dal Pakoda, are a popular snack in Rajasthani cuisine. These crispy and flavorful fritters are made with soaked and ground mung beans mixed with spices and deep-fried to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 cup mung beans, soaked for 4 hours
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 inch ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Drain the soaked mung beans and grind them into a coarse paste without adding water.
- Transfer the ground mung beans to a mixing bowl and add chopped onion, green chilies, ginger, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
- Scoop a spoonful of the mung bean mixture and carefully drop it into the hot oil. Fry the fritters in batches until they turn golden and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the mung bean fritters hot with chutney or ketchup.
