Ingredients

  • 1 cup split mung beans
  • 1 cup ghee
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)

Instructions

  1. Wash the mung beans and soak them in water for 2 hours. Then, drain the water.
  2. Grind the mung beans into a coarse paste using a food processor or blender.
  3. Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan and add the ground mung beans. Cook on low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture turns golden brown.
  4. Meanwhile, in another pan, heat the milk and let it simmer until it reduces to half the quantity.
  5. Add the reduced milk to the cooked mung beans and mix well. Cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  6. Add sugar and cardamom powder, and continue to cook until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
  7. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve hot.
