Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg pork shoulder
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp caraway seeds
  • 2 tbsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 250 ml dark beer

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
  2. Score the pork shoulder and rub it with salt, pepper, caraway seeds, and sweet paprika.
  3. Place the sliced onions and minced garlic in a roasting pan and place the seasoned pork on top.
  4. Pour the beef broth and dark beer into the pan.
  5. Cover the roasting pan with foil and roast in the oven for 2 hours.
  6. Remove the foil and continue roasting for another hour, basting the pork occasionally, until the meat is tender and the top is crispy.
  7. Let the pork rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving with the pan juices and onions.
