Murgh Curry (chicken Curry)
Murgh Curry, also known as Chicken Curry, is a popular dish from North Indian Cuisine. It is a flavorful and aromatic curry that is perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (700g) chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup (120ml) yogurt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves
- 4 green cardamom pods
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, and cardamom pods. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add onions and cook until golden brown.
- Add ginger and garlic, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric, coriander, cumin, and red chili powders. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the curry. Cook for another 10 minutes.
- Adjust the seasoning and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
