Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 3 large onions, finely sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and cook for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn white.
  4. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  5. Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pan. Cook for a few minutes until the oil separates.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with naan or steamed rice.
