Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs (700g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 1/2 cups tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, cumin, garam masala, coriander, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  2. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and lightly browned.
  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is no longer pink on the outside.
  5. Pour in the tomato puree and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and honey, and season with salt to taste. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with naan or steamed rice.
