Murgir Tenga (assamese Style Chicken Soup)

Ingredients
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon mustard oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pot and add the sliced onion. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the chicken pieces, turmeric powder, and grated ginger. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Next, add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Pour in 4 cups of water, season with salt, and bring to a boil. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes.
- Once the chicken is cooked through, add lemon juice and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
