Musaka (montenegrin Style Moussaka)
Musaka is a traditional Montenegrin dish that is similar to moussaka, with layers of potatoes, ground meat, and vegetables, topped with a creamy sauce and baked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 3 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 eggplant, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the red bell pepper, eggplant, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a greased baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
- Spread the meat and vegetable mixture over the potatoes.
- In a small bowl, mix the sour cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Spread this mixture over the meat and vegetable layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
