Musakhan Chicken Tacos (تاكو الدجاج المسخن)

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sumac
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 8 soft taco shells
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the sumac, cumin, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Rub the chicken breasts with this spice mixture and let them marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and caramelized.
  3. Push the onions to the side of the skillet and add the marinated chicken breasts. Cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the chicken is fully cooked.
  4. Remove the chicken from the skillet and shred it using two forks.
  5. Warm the soft taco shells according to the package instructions.
  6. Assemble the tacos by filling each shell with the shredded chicken and caramelized onions. Garnish with chopped parsley.
