Muscadine Jelly

Ingredients

  • 5 cups muscadine grapes, stemmed and washed
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 package powdered pectin

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, crush the grapes with a potato masher.
  2. Add water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Pour the mixture into a jelly bag and let it drip into a bowl overnight.
  4. Measure the juice and pour it into a pot. Add sugar and pectin, then bring to a rolling boil.
  5. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly, then remove from heat.
  6. Skim off any foam and pour the hot jelly into sterilized jars.
  7. Seal the jars and process in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes.
  8. Allow the jelly to cool and set before serving.
