Mushroom and Cheese Tartlets (Seene- ja juustutartletid)
Seene- ja juustutartletid, or Mushroom and Cheese Tartlets, are a delicious Estonian appetizer that combines the earthy flavor of mushrooms with the rich creaminess of cheese. These tartlets are perfect for serving at parties or as a light snack.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 200g mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 100g grated cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 12 equal squares.
- Press the pastry squares into a muffin tin, forming small tartlet shells.
- In a pan, sauté the mushrooms and onions until they are soft and any liquid has evaporated. Season with salt and pepper.
- Divide the mushroom mixture among the pastry shells, then top each with grated cheese.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
