Mushroom and Potato Dumplings (Seene- ja kartulipallid)
Seene- ja kartulipallid, or Mushroom and Potato Dumplings, are a traditional Estonian dish that is both comforting and delicious. These dumplings are perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 500g potatoes, peeled and diced
- 200g mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 eggs
- 100g bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them in a large bowl.
- In a pan, sauté the mushrooms and onions in butter until soft.
- Add the sautéed mushrooms and onions to the mashed potatoes, then mix in the eggs and bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper.
- Form the mixture into small balls and place them on a floured surface.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then carefully drop the dumplings into the water.
- Cook the dumplings for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and serve hot.
