Mustang Mutton Curry

Ingredients

  • 500g mutton, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the pureed tomatoes, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  5. Pour in enough water to cover the mutton pieces, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 45 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
