Mustard Chicken (shorshe Bata Murgi)
Mustard Chicken, also known as Shorshe Bata Murgi, is a traditional Bengali dish that is bursting with flavor. The combination of tangy mustard and tender chicken makes this dish a favorite in Bengali cuisine.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 3 tbsp mustard paste
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the mustard paste, yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, mustard oil, sugar, and salt.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them well. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the marinated chicken. Cook on medium heat until the chicken is tender and the sauce thickens.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or paratha.
