Ingredients

  • 500g fish (rohu or catla)
  • 4 tbsp mustard paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash the fish thoroughly. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a bowl, mix the mustard paste, turmeric powder, and salt to form a smooth paste.
  3. Coat the fish pieces with the mustard paste mixture and let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add the marinated fish pieces along with slit green chilies.
  5. Add water and cook covered for 15-20 minutes on medium heat until the fish is cooked and the gravy thickens.
  6. Serve hot with steamed rice.
