Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of Hilsa fish
  • 1 cup mustard paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon mustard oil
  • 4 banana leaves, cut into 8x8 inch squares
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Hilsa fish with mustard paste, turmeric powder, green chilies, mustard oil, and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Place each marinated Hilsa fish piece on a banana leaf square and wrap it securely.
  3. Heat a pan on medium heat and place the wrapped fish parcels in the pan.
  4. Cover the pan and cook for 10-12 minutes on each side until the banana leaf turns slightly brown and the fish is cooked through.
  5. Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
