Ingredients
- 4 Hilsa fish steaks
- 1/2 cup mustard paste
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons mustard oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Marinate the Hilsa steaks with turmeric powder and salt. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix mustard paste, yogurt, red chili powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and fry the marinated Hilsa steaks until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the mustard-yogurt mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add water and green chilies, then bring to a simmer.
- Gently slide the fried Hilsa steaks into the sauce, cover the pan, and cook for 10-12 minutes.
- Once the fish is cooked and the sauce has thickened, remove from heat.
- Serve the Mustard Hilsa hot with steamed rice.
