Mustard Okra (shorshe Bhindi)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound okra, washed and dried
  • 2 tablespoons mustard paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends of the okra and cut them into halves lengthwise.
  2. In a bowl, mix the mustard paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard mixture. Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the okra and sauté for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour water into the pan, cover, and cook for 10 minutes or until the okra is tender.
  6. Serve hot with rice or roti.
