Mustard Pointed Gourd (shorshe Potol)
Mustard Pointed Gourd (Shorshe Potol) is a traditional dish from Sylheti Cuisine, known for its unique blend of flavors and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 500g pointed gourd (potol)
- 2 tbsp mustard paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Peel the pointed gourd and cut them into halves lengthwise.
- In a bowl, mix the mustard paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, yogurt, and salt to make a smooth paste.
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the green chilies. Then add the pointed gourd and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the mustard paste mixture and sugar to the pan. Stir well to coat the pointed gourd.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes or until the pointed gourd is tender.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
