Mustard Pointed Gourd (shorshe Potol)

Ingredients

  • 500g pointed gourd (potol)
  • 2 tbsp mustard paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel the pointed gourd and cut them into halves lengthwise.
  2. In a bowl, mix the mustard paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, yogurt, and salt to make a smooth paste.
  3. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the green chilies. Then add the pointed gourd and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the mustard paste mixture and sugar to the pan. Stir well to coat the pointed gourd.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes or until the pointed gourd is tender.
  6. Once cooked, remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
