Mustard Potatoes (Shorshe Aloo) is a traditional dish from Sylheti Cuisine that features tender potatoes cooked in a flavorful mustard sauce. This dish is a perfect combination of spicy and tangy flavors, making it a popular choice for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 3 tbsp mustard paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the cubed potatoes and fry until they turn golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the mustard paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and green chilies. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add water and salt, then bring to a simmer.
- Once the sauce thickens, add the fried potatoes and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve hot.
