Mustard Seed Roasted Chicken (Senfkorn geröstetes Huhn)
Senfkorn geröstetes Huhn, or Mustard Seed Roasted Chicken, is a traditional dish from Lower Saxon cuisine that is packed with flavor and perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, about 4 lbs
- 2 tbsp mustard seeds
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Rinse the chicken and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together the mustard seeds, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
- Rub the mustard seed mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin.
- Place the lemon slices and minced garlic inside the cavity of the chicken.
- Place the chicken in a roasting pan and roast in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
