Mustard Seed Roasted Chicken (Senfkorn geröstetes Huhn)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, about 4 lbs
  • 2 tbsp mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Rinse the chicken and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the mustard seeds, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Rub the mustard seed mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin.
  5. Place the lemon slices and minced garlic inside the cavity of the chicken.
  6. Place the chicken in a roasting pan and roast in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
