Mutton Kari (spicy Mutton Curry)
Mutton Kari is a traditional Malaysian Indian curry dish that is rich, flavorful, and spicy. This dish is perfect for those who enjoy a hearty and aromatic curry.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cardamom pods
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, and cardamom pods. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add chopped onions and green chilies. Cook until onions are golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add mutton pieces and cook until they are browned.
- Stir in tomato puree, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in yogurt and coconut milk. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
