Mutton Sukka (goan Style Mutton Curry)
Mutton Sukka is a popular Goan dish known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This dry mutton curry is a perfect blend of spices and tender mutton pieces, making it a must-try for all meat lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 4-5 dry red chilies
- 1-inch ginger, chopped
- 5-6 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2-3 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a pan, dry roast the grated coconut, dry red chilies, cumin seeds, and coriander seeds until fragrant. Allow it to cool and then grind into a fine paste with ginger and garlic.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ground masala paste and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the chopped tomato, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
- Add the mutton pieces and cook on medium heat until the mutton is tender and the masala coats the pieces well.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or Goan pav.
