Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked Japanese short-grain rice
  • 3 tablespoons white miso paste

  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Nori seaweed sheets, cut into small strips for wrapping

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the miso paste, mirin, and sugar until well combined.
  2. Take a small handful of cooked rice and flatten it in the palm of your hand.
  3. Place a small amount of the miso mixture in the center of the rice and fold the rice around the filling, shaping it into a triangle or round ball.
  4. Wrap the rice ball with a strip of nori seaweed.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining rice and miso mixture.
  6. Serve the miso onigiri at room temperature or slightly warm.
